Ok, I am not talking about Coke, my goodness, it is amazing that that is what they called it. NO I am talking about what supplements you are taking. I know you heard from someone when you were growing up that you get what you pay for and nowhere is that more important than when it comes to supplements.
Let me de-bunk one other thing while I am at it--yes you should be able to get all you need from food. No question. Four hundred years ago the plains of this country had millions of bison all busily fertilizing so real plants could grow. The top soil was thick and full of worms doing their job, and all 63 minerals needed for a body to work were there, so when that food was eaten, yes, you had everything.
Even when I was a kid the standard was to rotate crops, let the soil rest, there was some sanity in food production. Alas, fertilizer with three (3) minerals-NPK- was put on the soil and something that looked sort of like food, sort of like vegetables, sort of like - grew. And it was cheaper. And the tired soil could be forced to produce all the time. But if it takes 63 minerals to grow a body - where do the other 60 come from?
Ok, that is just one example of why we need supplements - to get what isn't in our "food".
Now, what supplements? Chemical imitations of the missing factors? Who thinks the body doesn't know the difference? The portion of nutrition that someone thinks is the correct part of nutrition for your body?
No, we only use whole food supplements. Why settle for some fake thing which the body can only use 3% of - really! So it was really cheap, but how much do you have to take to get enough it, if your body can only absorb 3%. Was that really that cheap? I want a whole food and that's what I recommend for my patients - it's what nature intended for a body to use for fuel. I want all the parts I know someone needs for their current problem and all the co-factors that are necessary for the factors to work. I want them to be 97% absorbable. Further, I want something that I know where it was grown (not mixed up in a laboratory by some chemist), and grown on soil that is well cared for or wild organically grown in volcanic silt, that would be good. All the ratios are nature's own. Not too much or not enough.
