parenting help family therapyHave you priced Family Therapy or Family Counseling recently?

So what is Family Therapy?

The best way to start is by looking at the definitions of the term:

  • family: 1) people living together: a group of people living together and functioning as a single household, usually consisting of parents and their children;
  • family: 2) group of relatives: a group of people who are closely related by birth, marriage, or adoption.
  • family: 2) offspring: a child or set of children born to somebody. — Encarta® World English Dictionary
  • therapy: 1) the treatment of disease or disorders, as by some remedial, rehabilitating or curative process;
  • therapy: 2) a curative power or quality;
  • therapy: 3) psychotherapy;
  • therapy: 4) any act, hobby, task, program, etc., that relieves tension. — Dictionary.com

What that translates into is a scheduling nightmare in getting everybody together as well as an expensive exercise just trying to get everybody to talk to each other. Family counseling does have its place, resulting in real Family Therapy, but there's a lot that parents can do when they have sane, common sense techniques to improve family relations.
